Cat at rest

Cat at rest

I try to draw or paint everyday, and this day I had the luck of having a perfect little model, one of my cats resting in the sun light right in my studio.
Take advantage of every opportunity when it comes to making art:)

A ink drawing of flowers and a figurine, finished with a watercolor wash.
Sometimes an ink drawing is dramatic enough to stand alone, in this case it did not look complete till
the wash was added.

Almost daily ink 3-11-2013

Decided I would start an almost daily blog just up loading what I call Daily Ink.
The one from today wasn't actually done today but thought it would be a good place to start.
6 x 8 inches done with Faber-Castell Pitt pens.

Oil on Black Gesso

Oil on Black Gesso

Just started some new oil paintings. I used some 300 lb watercolor paper, layered a couple coats of black gesso on the paper. I wanted to practice painting on a black ground, and pick oil paint to work with. I am finding this very exciting because oil is nice to use the sgraffito (to scratch) technique
with. I love how long you can work with the oil paint to do this, and the black lines add such an exciting touch to the paintings.
